It is easy for anyone who wants to get in on the action to have access to an FM radio station. All that is needed is a license. Anybody can receive signals from most any country on the planet as long as they are within reach of an FM transmitter. This is why many countries use a satellite communication system, which sends and receives signals from a number of FM radio stations all over the world. Even with these services many people still prefer to listen to the more traditional kind of radio. For this reason, there are still lots of people who listen to analog radio using antennae or a car radio in their cars.

 

The goal of creating FM radio signals was to improve on the already great broadcast technology already available. Engineers wanted to be able to transmit sounds from places where radio could not reach, but they couldn't transmit in the same format. The Federal Communication Commission has kept the status of FM radio signals open to all interested parties. They want to make sure everybody has access to these wonderful tools. However, the FCC has placed restrictions on how the fm radio stations can be used and on what they can advertise. While the regulations have kept many people from listening, the rest of the world benefits from the transmissions and enjoys their programming and their station.

 

There is no modulation used with the regular analog broadcast of a stereo sound. With the advancement of technology and the improvement of equipment, the audio waves have been changed to the more simplified MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) form of transmission. The MOSFET uses far less power to transfer the audio signal than the electromechanical switching elements found in conventional transmitters and receivers. This greatly reduces the potential interference to other electronics in the vicinity of the fm radio transmitter. In addition, the MOSFET forms a clean transmission signal which eliminates any possible electronic errors from switching or shifting components during transmission.

 

The modern transmitter is able to receive and transmit much more data than its predecessors because of its superior characteristics. It also has much better sensitivity and can process information more quickly. Some modern fm radio devices can process data at a rate of around 150 miles per second, a speed that is unprecedented. A major factor in this amazing feat is the invention of the ideal frequency division multiplexer or FDM (frequency division multiplexer) that allows all radio circuits to be assigned a particular state (such as idle, switched-on or automatically activated) depending upon what the user desires.

 

Some people, such as radio presenters and news broadcast coordinators, have begun to use these frequencies to transmit their own channels of radio stations into the households of their target audience. A great advantage of this system is that you will not need to purchase additional receivers for each radio station that you wish to transmit into your household. Instead, you can simply tune each radio to a station frequency and broadcast each station into your own designated frequency band. The only disadvantage of using a fm radio is that if it receives a strong signal from other stations in the same frequency band, it may prevent your fm radio from picking up other stations within that same frequency band.
