Authorize.Net determines the card type by the first few digits of the card number. For example, all Visa cards currently start with a 4. Therefore, we have no need to be told what the card type is.
Could you give me more insight into what you wish to accomplish? For example, are you wanting to display the card type so customers can see what card type is tied to which payment profile?
