Certain types of bank accounts might not allow eCheck transactions. What bank account are you testing with? Also, implementing Authorize.net is fairly straightforward (as long as you're getting timely answers here), but learning Magento is likely a lot more complicated. It may be easier to find someone who knows Magento well and have them implement Authorize.net for you, rather than trying to do it the other way around.
