Test mode and Test account

I hope to clear up some confusion for many people.

When a user has a developer account, should they turn Test mode ON?

Payment Gateway API URL = https://test.authorize.net/gateway/transact.dll

No. Leave test mode off. The test account acts like it is in test mode already. So no need to put it into test mode.

Thanx Stymiee.

once we go live and are in production, how do we continue to have a development environment that uses test mode without flipping the account setting "TESTMODE" to false (i.e. we need to keep charging cards in production).  is there a sandbox account with different api/transaction keys?  if so how can we get one of those?

Go here to sign up for a developer test account and obtain an API Login ID and Transaction Key for the sandbox.
