Visa Gift Card Declined

Hello,

I can't seem to find an answer to this issue.

We have a Magento run website, using Authorize.net as our card processor.

We have it set for authorization only, no capture, all that process we let Authorize.net handle.

We recently had a customer attempt to use a Visa Gift Card for his purchase and it was declined.

The customer did not recieve any declining message, and his order was not processed.

We however, received an email that the order was declined.

This is the message on the Authorize.net screen:

Declined  (Authorization with the card issuer was successful but the transaction was declined due to an address or ZIP code mismatch with the address on file with the card issuing bank based on the settings in the Merchant Interface.)

How can the address/zip possibly match if it is a Gift Card?

What can we do to prevent a decline on a gift card again?

Is it possible for us to allow the use of a Visa, AMX or any other type of gift card?

If they're going to be declined, do we need to warn our customers that we cannot accept Gift cards as payment?

Any info about this would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Problem is, there's no way to figure out ahead of time which cards are prepaid and which aren't. So all you can do is decline the gift cards or loosen restrictions on everything. What you -could- do, I suppose, is set your AVS to "Allow, Report Triggered Filter(s)", then have a checkbox on your form for "this is a gift card". If they click that box, then your site will allow transactions with triggered filters; otherwise, it will check for them and reject the transaction, or mark it for review so you know to call that customer and verify before capturing.
