billTo: company alphanumeric?!

Regarding createTransactionRequest fields, the API documentation claims that the billTo: company field should be alphanumeric:

"Use alphanumeric characters only, without spaces, dashes, or other symbols."

How can this be?

Is this actually referring to the name on the card itself?

Otherwise, it is very common for company names to be non-alphanumeric of course.

Even if I flattened it with iconv using //TRANSLITERATE that still would not resolve dashes and other symbols. I can only assume this is a recommendation and not a requirement. Otherwise, please explain precisely how we are supposed to satisfy this requirement given a non-alphanumeric company name.

Hi @miallen0

We understand the case you are presenting, but what I see is that the billTo:Company field accepts non alphanumeric values with space, dashes and few special characters.

I myself tested few non alphanumeric inputs and it works perfectly fine.

I feel there has been similar requests before and as result we must have updated the APIs, but the documentation change was missed and is not upto to date.

Thank you for pointing this out, I will notify the team on this.

Happy Coding!
