A Word or Two About Data Security

We’d like to remind everyone that the developer community is by no means considered a secure place where you can share sensitive data. Anyone visiting the site can review your posts—so please, please, please, do not post sensitive data on any of the boards. Sensitive data breaches can cause extensive losses for you and your customers.

So what exactly is sensitive data you ask? Here is a list of common examples:

  • Credit card numbers
  • Credit card expiration dates
  • Card Code Verification (CCV, CVV, CV2, etc.) numbers
  • Authorize.Net API Login IDs and Transaction Keys
  • Social Security Numbers
  • Drivers’ license numbers
  • Account login IDs and passwords
  • Basically any personally-identifying information that you would not want anyone on the Internet to have. So this may also include your name, addresses and phone numbers, etc.

Again, please just remember to be very careful with the information you post. If you have any questions, feel free to contact a community administrator or moderator and we’ll be happy to help.
